What a blog title, I mean wow, that’s a bit of a heading, however this being my second actual post I feel the need to give you all a little bit more of an insight as to why I wanted to start a blog. If you’re new here and checking everything out, check out my “about me” page (link) to see a bit about my family and who I am.
Grab a cup of coffee and sit a while.
The reason I actually started a blog was because I was so inspired by these women/mothers/designers/shop owners I had seen on Instagram, pinterest and other blogs.
How they shared their stories and seasons in life. How to rally a community online to stand by them, pray with them and laugh with them online. How easily I felt like their friends, just on the other side of the world and how I really enjoyed seeing what they were up too. I laughed when they laughed and cried when they felt loss.
I then started to see my favourite blogs start writing “how to start a blog” posts. Like everywhere. ALL THE TIME. And it really got me thinking, I can do that, I would like to do that, I would like to connect and grow in motherhood, DIY and daily inspiration just like these women I see and read, who to me were like my next door neighbours and it got me really exciting.
I then procrastinated on the idea, played with a free online website builder (failed terribly and am really glad it will never see the light of day!) looked into names and hosting and really couldn’t find something that fit and was me. After a couple of months I still couldn’t decide what I wanted to do, and then my hubby and I went a saw Kevin Smith in the city. Kevin spoke about if you have a dream, to slowing work on it each day.
So I did. I went back to those sites, I kept reading and I finally chose the name: Coffee and Cupcakes – I only have a slight addiction I promise. Ok it’s more than a slight but still I’m working on it (not really) and I look the bullet and I’m really happy I did.
I took the time to browse
stalked Abby from Just a Girl and her blog, downloaded the “start a blog challenge” and each day I have been working on my blog. Putting my love and stress into it after the kids and hubby go to bed.
Watching way too many online videos on how to set stuff up and getting to really know Spotify. If you are thinking about starting a blog I highly recommend that you stop on by and ask Abby questions and spend way too much time on her site. You won’t be disappointed.
This is the reason I started a blog. To chase my dream, to work at something and to feel a part of a community.
The blogs I follow inspired me, gave my great advice and took the scariness out of starting a blog. The content of my blog is motherhood, diy, inspiration. I believe that as my blog grows so will my content and I hope that one day I can inspire you to reach that dream you’re chasing.
In the words of Abby:” You can have the most perfectly designed blog on the planet, but if your content is not top-notch, you’re going to have a hard time growing your following. Great content is what brings people to your site in the first place, and it’s what keeps them coming back for more.”
