I love doing craft and learning with the kids. Lilly is at the age where she enjoys learning and doing craft at the same time. It’s no longer just finger painting swirls, it’s making butterfly’s and practicing her writing. Loki just likes the paint and fun.
This spring I plan on doing some crafts with the kids and also some reading/writing/counting practice while cooking dinner of an evening. Today I wanted to show you some fun spring crafts and learning activities that we’ll be doing.
Building sight words
Flower dollies painting
Counting and writing work sheets
Building sight words are great for Lilly as we can use her sight words she gets from school and she can read them and spell them without getting frustrated, as she does some times. I think with Loki we will match colors and work on single letters like I, E, A, and O. We’ll build up to words. If you’re looking for a recording sheet for the words have a look at The Printable Princess she has a great post on this.
Painting is always fun and the kids love to do it. Loki tends to only paint 1 or 2 pictures, maybe it’s because he only gets to do one at a time at pre-school but it keeps them busy for more then 5 minutes and I enjoy painting with them too.
I’m so excited about counting sheets! it’s insane lol. I’ve always seen kids counting with lollies or cereal working from sheets and I knew we had to try it this year. Lilly gets a kick out of leaning and I’m happy that she can sit at the table and do this while I cook dinner and supervise. Loki loves doing what Lilly does and can count unassisted but having him being able to work off a sheet will help keep him focused. These may have to turn into times tables as the kids grow lol I’m such a mean mum!
