Hey, welcome back! The next room we did in out one room make over was Loki’s room. This is Loki’s room make over!
Loki, full of life and fun. He’s certainly one of a kind, and after we brought our house I
stupidly allowed Jamie to paint Loki’s room green. As in bright, burn your eyes green. It most certainly stood out. It was so bright that he didn’t want to sleep in it. The room also only had a lace curtain so I don’t think that helped.
I think, I thought by painting it green I was a cool mum and he would like it…yea learnt that lesson! So to fix it we went grey. I decided that in order to continue to add value to our home, we needed to have soft colors that can be accented with either a feature wall or decor. In Loki’s room he’s decor is the feature. No longer the wall color!
(Spiderman and he’s pet dog – Bella)
As with the laundry we moved everything out of he’s room. Patched up holes from where the shelves were taken down and started painting. After Loki’s room I really didn’t want to paint. Ever. Again.
The room has wood paneling. We patched up the wood holes and painted it a darker grey. The trim also got an update. To cover up the green, I had to undercoat. Because we were going from a very bold color to a soft grey, the only way to achieve it was to undercoat.
This instantly made the room feel bigger and calmer. Which is really what you want in a bedroom. Slowly we started moving furniture back into he’s room. We brought another another shelving unit that is great toy storage. We used he’s drawers that I made over to add a pop of color and moved he’s bed back in. I played with the layout of the room a bit, but currently this is the best one that works for him.
The small cube unit was in Lilly’s room. I shopped her room to help reduce costs.
A lot of stuff on the walls we already had. The iron man canvas was in Loki’s room before, the picture frames are from Ikea and are plastic! the big one has art that Loki does at pre-school and is changed when he stuff comes home. Other frames have photos of him and Lilly, some comic book poster covers (thanks to Daddy) and photos from him when he was little.
Loki’s room make over took a month to finish. We added new blinds and they make a huge difference. As he grows older we can easily change up the stuff on the wall and not have to change the paint color. We can upgrade he’s bed and even add more books.
I’m so happy with how the room turned it. Jamie is not a big fan of the grey, but he will be 😉
Now I’m off to play Buzlightyear with Loki! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.
Next up: Lilly’s room!
