At the end of October, I went and saw Delta Goodrem in concert. I went with my fabulous mother in law who brought tickets for my birthday. I must admit I was not a huge fan of Delta but I really enjoyed seeing her live. I’m always up for a concert and a good sing a-long.
Wings of the Wild is Delta’s new album and at her concert she talks about how she came up with the name and the journey she went on to create the album. There a video’s with voice overs telling her story of the album shown throughout the concert. She has a good mix of old and new songs, that she sings and also shares some stories about what inspired her and the songs she wrote. She does an amazing cover of “I believe in a thing called love” by the Darkness that has a really sweet story behind it. When she sung the song you actually hear how nice the words are without the 80’s inspired hairstyles……
The stage is quite simply set up with stairs, a huge screen and giant inflatable wings. She uses the whole stage throughout the show and includes the band in a number of songs. She also has a platform behind the floor audience that she sings from. Getting into the crowd I think helps her show as she’s not just stationery at the piano all night.
The only down side was that she ran certain songs together one after the other, and if you are not a big fan you may not quite now where one song ends and another starts. The key change in the songs are a good indication but 4 songs run together without a breath or pause is a bit much to start the show with.
I had a really good night and was left singing “The River” and “I believe in a thing called Love” all the way home lol. She blew me away and I sang more songs and enjoyed more songs then I thought I would. If you’re a fan this show is a must! The end of the show was pretty cool too
