A few things happen towards the end of the year that always make me go “where did the year go?” “how fast did that come along?” and each year I’m still left scratching my head. The kids finish school, I take leave from work and then Christmas and New Years happen, so I decided today to really get into the Christmas fun…2 days out of Christmas. I’m telling you December has just been stupid crazy busy for us.
Today we made some Christmas popsicle triangles (also known as Christmas trees) and it was awesome! It kept the kids busy for 10 minutes…and then the paint had to dry…next time I’ll plan ahead.
For this craft you’ll need:
- Popsicle sticks
- glue/hot glue
- pipe cleaners
- glitter balls
- stickers (optional)
Plus anything that you have around that you think will look good or is suited to your holiday décor.
Once you have your supplies, take 5 minutes to glue like a thousand popsicle sticks together. I used hot glue as the drying time was quick and as I didn’t tell the kids we were doing craft, had 5 minutes to get it done before hands wanted to help. A little bit of glue on each end and your done.
You can cut a bit off each side of the base stick if you would like a more slim line look. Once the glue is dry and your 2 year old can play catch with one, your good to go. Today was one of those days where we just went with it, until 5pm and it was the witching hour…oh my…momma almost lost her mind!
Paint (if you’re not using green sticks) and then decorate.
Super fun and easy. It was great watching Lilly with the pipe cleaners, I think we went through a couple of colours before we chose the right one. Loki was not interested in this at all, he wanted to watch Batman instead and that’s okay, we’ll do something that will catch he’s eye and he’ll love it. Once all the glue was dried and I washed the paint floor sheet, we made brownies. And then decorated them with writing icing.
It’s the first day of pre school break for the kids and my first day of leave over Christmas, so we went all out #sendhelp #craftingandbakingallday All in all I would say the first day was a good one.
